Yesterday on the business opportunities and ideas forum I was asked:

Is it at all possible to obtain 100% capital from an investor?

The reason I ask is because the opportunity I am currently looking at costs approximately £10k, but just like another forum member, I never seem to be able to have enough money to be able to start it off.

It’s a variation of a question I’m asked a lot. That question is generally, "Is it possible to start a business/become a millionaire with no money?" Some people don’t ask they just insist it’s impossible.

Those people are wrong, you can start with nothing and build a fortunate - admittedly it’s a lot easier to make money if you already have lots of money, but it’s still possible to do well starting from nothing. The trick is to focus on what you can achieve now that brings you nearer to the overall goal and that is the basis of How To Double Your Way to a MILLION in 28 Steps.

How To Double Your Way to a MILLION in 28 Steps is something I came across last year on the Shell Livewire Forums and it sounded intriguing (you can read about it in the  FREE PDF here). It aims to show you that:

Anything is achievable if you break it down into ‘bite-sized’ steps.

So if you’re wondering how to make a million from nothing I suggest you grab a copy and have a good read. Even if you don’t want to make a million, perhaps just the 10K to get your business idea going it’s still worth a read.

For those that are skeptical the book One Red Paperclip by Kyle MacDonald might be interesting reading. It is inspiring and is similar to How To Double Your Way to a MILLION in 28 Steps. MacDonald had a long term goal (a house) starting with little or nothing (one red paperclip) but set about achieving it a step at a time and crucially focused on making the next step work, without getting caught up in enormity of the final goal. It’s a real life example of the lessons that How To Double Your Way to a MILLION in 28 Steps aims to teach.

For those that are curious here’s the first five steps:

1. Find 1p
2. Turn 1p into 2p
3. Turn 2p into 4p
4. Turn 4p into 8p
5. Turn 8p into 16p

After which there’s just 23 more steps to the magic million. Sure it’s not going to be easy, but if you focus on a step at a time it’s a lot less daunting.
