Our local business paper is reporting that a Limpley Stoke based man has set up a business selling what are essentially DIY memoir books.
The idea is you buy the book for someone, your Mum perhaps and she fills in the blanks about her life. Then when they’ve gone you’ve got a lasting momento of their life. If you’re interested visit their website for more information: www.fromyoutome.com.
I think it’s a good idea and judging by the local press coverage I’m not the only one. However if it gets too popular I’m not sure he’ll be able to stop the big boys copying his idea themselves.
It would be quite interesting to see a similar kind of product for small businesses, wouldn’t it be great to chart the highs and lows of starting up. Not only that but you’d have a great reference to look back on each year to identify areas to improve on for the next year.

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

Hello. I am ‘that man’ from Limpley Stoke with the ‘Memoirs’ idea and we are fast building the ‘from you to me’ brand in order to protect the idea. Copyright and Trademarks alone help to protect the idea, but the service, reputation and brand we are building is more important. Business is flying with repeat orders coming in fast from a number of retailers, so thanks for the link from this site. We are also looking at a number of business extensions so also thanks for the idea. Cheers. Neil http://www.fromyoutome.com
I’d love to hear who you’re getting Trademark advice from as all the local solicitors I’ve spoken to recently around here are a bit vague on the topic.
The idea for a log of the life of a small business is inspired from reading the White Ladder Diaries.
