Pick of the week is slightly delayed this week due to a busy schedule - as a result it’s also a bit shorter.
This weeks most popular post on Business Opportunities and Ideas has been How To Start A Blogging Business. This weeks picks from around the web are:
- Ben Casnocha on why Thinking in Public Is Not Done noting that "Thinking and communicating this thinking are independent jobs, and hard to do simultaneously." explaining the value he places on creating alone time to think, an idea that I’m keen on too.
- Permjot Valia scores the hattrick with My Investments: Not all publicity is good publicity making some excellent points on selling. In particular I was interested to see that he took a weekend job selling beds to get a better understanding. I’ve suggested this idea to several people but they’ve all been too proud to do so.
- Andy Beal writes The “Free” Model is Killing Start-Ups; Why I Built Trackur to be Different taking a look at the FREE business model saying "The biggest flaw with the "free" model that’s embraced the web: you can’t make money with it!".
- The Blog Entrepreneur wrote about The Power of Small Numbers which takes a realistic look at how easy it is to make money online - I suspect many people won’t like hearing the truth.
- Fred Wilson explains how he got lucky an broke into the venture capital industry, there’s some lessons in there for all of us.
Last week’s Pick Of The Week.

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

Thank you John. There is nothing better than putting in the work at the shop floor to gain a real understanding of a business. Any entrepreneur who comes to me and has not done that - stands little chance of getting funding (from me at least!)
Agreed. I’m constantly suprised at how many don’t do it however.
