The Way of the Dog: The Art of Making Success Inevitable tells the story of Derek Stubbins a failed double-glazing salesman who is turned into a sheepdog by a witch. The story follows Derek as he comes to terms with his new canine life and learns how to heard sheep while trying to reverse the witches spell.
I first came Geoff Burch’s work several years ago when I attended a Salisbury Chamber of Commerce event at which he was the speaker. He’s a great speaker, interesting, witty and different. I left with three of his other books which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. There’s an example (video) of his talks on his website which might give you an inclination into where the subject of this book comes from.
Having watched the video you’ll now know that this book is about selling, it explains the process of selling (proper selling not that high pressure stuff) through the story of Lucky the sheepdog (aka Derek). It’s amusing, insightful and very very easy to read. If you’re new to selling read it, if you run a sales team read it. If you just fancy a giggle reading a short book about sheepdogs - read it. After all being an entrepreneur is all about selling.
