I saw over on TechCrunch UK that ex Dragon Doug Richards is looking for “very young startups who have web companies that think they could go big”. According to the TechCrunch UK:
Doug emailed [them] to say: “I will be arranging an informal pitching morning and from that I will choose one company who will have the opportunity to spend the rest of the day with me reviewing their business plan in detail.” He will give them “all the assistance” he can to make the plan bullet proof and then introduce them to potential partners and funders.
In a comment on Richards adds:
The morning will be spent with companies pitching and me interviewing the team. I will choose one of the companies for an in-depth session in the afternoon to review the plan in detail and receive mentoring and support from me. I commit to that company that I will try to introduce them into the people and relationships that will help them as best as possible. I won’t ask for anything in return.
The pitches will be filmed by the BBC as a is a test of a concept (but what is filmed will never be aired according to Richards) The show is currently code-named “The Next Big Thing”. As yet there is apparently no date for this opportunity as yet but anyone interested should email a description of the business idea and of the team to thenextbigthing2008@gmail.com.

That sounds like a great idea and TV prog
Wonder if they will follow one business for the whole series or follow a different business each episode
(Does Doug have his own web site with details of his businesses and projects? I understand he is heavily involved in tech businesses so it would be good to read his blog if he has one)
I’ve linked his name to his website, or rather the website of his business.
tried clicking on the ‘Doug Richards’ link but it came back with a 404. Just hovered over the link and see that his site is libraryhouse.net though so thanks for that
