Our first child is due in June so we decided to start looking around for baby gear this weekend so we popped into Trowbridge to have a look around. One of the shops we looked around was a perfect example of how not to run a shop. There was loud crackly radio throughout the shop blaring out something about football. The assistant (manager/owner?) could not have looked more out of place or unfriendly and pointedly ignored us and carried on reading the paper. Needless to say we didn’t buy anything.
We did manage to find some reasonable newborn clothes in town but had no luck finding anywhere selling bottles, steralising kit or baby buggies (travel systems they seem to be called these days). It seems that to get anything like that we’d have to travel to Bath or Bristol. Odd really at the last midwife appoitment the midwife told us they’d had eight deliveries already that morning so obviously theres a regular stream of new customers in and around Trowbridge so it seems to me that theres an opportunity for a good friendly mother and baby shop in this area.
