I’m 13 And Want To Make Some Money

on October 31st, 2007

A reader asks:

I’m 13 and I’m interested in being an entrepreneur and making money fast. All my friends are all into playing football and other sports, while I’m more focusing on how to turn things into money quickly. How could I make a lot of money quickly at my age?

Firstly there are no honest/reliable/sustainable/legal ways to make money fast.

To make money you need to provide something of value to other people. To make a lot of money you’ll need to provide something of a very high value to a few people or something of a lower value to a lot of people.

I suggest you read my posts 10 Tactics For Finding New Business Ideas and 10 Tips For Finding Internet Business Ideas and consider what interests you and what interests your friends then see if there’s something you can create that they would value. I’ve also posted a number of Teen Business Ideas in the past.

If enough people see the value in what you do, you’ll make a lot of money.

Congratulations 13 year old, you are already part way there, you have begun to look, most never begin, or if they do they look only at the get rich quick schemes and John is right they don’t work. John’s advice is sound,

Read the bit where he advises:
“To make money you need to provide something of value to other people. To make a lot of money you’ll need to provide something of a very high value to a few people or something of a lower value to a lot of people.”

Then re read it several more times, because if you don’t get that piece of advice under your belt real early you will constantly be chasing rainbows that don’t exist.

Good luck (at 13 WOW! I wish I was that smart at 13)

I am 14 and have been searching and thinking for great buissnes ideas for months whilst in and out of the buying and selling buissnes; selling mainly watches and jewellery… Sadly my only piece of advice is that these ideas take time and rushing got me nowhere but a few useless products. I’d look into wholesale clearances if you want the money fast but what my Dad has always told me is to be SMART, Specific Measurable Acheivable Realistic and Timely. Good luck and let me know how your getting on; I’m finding it hard how are you doing?
