This weeks pitches on Dragons’ Den were:
- Yoodoo Doll - Asked for £35K for a 20% stake, for a DIY doll. An interesting business idea and it seems to be working, as she’d apparently sold 810 to the likes of TopShop (I’m not sure how it fits their product range) and I Want One Of Those. Nice deal getting the t-shirt with URL aired, shame the URL doesn’t work though.
- Sweet Counter -Teaching kids maths using sweets, I think… she went on rather a long time and didn’t actually seem to say very much.
- iBox - A folding ironing table which was a solution looking for a problem. No business idea here, move along please.
- On Target Infant Training - Potty training is something I’ll no doubt be faced with in the coming year or so, but I really didn’t get this idea. I certainly didn’t see the business in it. Although they are selling it seems. It’s dropped to No. 17 in Amazon’s baby ranking since the show was aired, I wonder what it’ll be in a weeks time after the publicity following the show?
- Swanky or Spanky - Not really a usable product based on what we saw. Critisied for offering a rather mixed message, having looked at their website where they offer models for hire too and offer lots of pictures of them scantily clad I’m even more confused.
- Kebab-B-Q - Another solution looking for a problem.
- GamingAlerts - Asking for £200K to build an affiliate site (well group of sites) and they got their £200K in return for giving Theo 30%. Lets face it anyone that’s been around the Internet and affiliate marketing for more than a few hours will know there is some serious money to be made pushing affiliate schemes for gaming sites, equally there’s an incredible amount of competition. They’ve got a nice unique twist in that they’re getting their software onto players PC’s allowing them to push offers to their users. If they can get enough users to download the alerts software they should have no trouble hitting their revenue targets. Getting the traffic is the challenge however and they did not say how they were going to address that issue.
There were a couple of other pitches I missed as our PVR crashed, I’ll update the post with comments on them after tomorrows repeat.

The Sweet Counter lady did everything wrong. Went over time and didn’t actually tell them anything they wanted to know like the figures. She was very defensive too but then again she is a teacher so probably not used to having her audience talk back like the dragons did.
The Gaming Alerts couple looked like clones of the two festival organisers from last week.
James Caan still looks interested in most ideas but have the time he pulls out at the end so wonder if it’s done to string them along a bit.
I’m still not sure what the Sweet Counter lady actually told them what her business did.
I think it was a nice episode in general
Im wondering who else between those who noticed the Pitch of the OnTarget guy thought it was great. Peter Jones said at the end, that this is a perfect example how every pitch in here should be. I didnt see the greatness in it really. Maybe someone else did. I agree it was simple and seemed sincere, but in terms of informative about the business, I didnt see that. But thena gain I didnt get the chance to see it twice, Ill wait for a youtube posting.
I also didnt see the great business in the potty training. I think its actually not so clean because in the owner’s words “It extends play to the toilet rather than stop it”. This to me only means that kids have a great risk of running to the toilet when they dont need to use it, and playing with Max!! I dont want my kids to do that. And if you are meant to take it out everytime, then its not exactly very hygienic either. Things to think about…
The problem is a lot of the pitch is edited out so we’ll never know what made it such a good pitch, although it was clearly better than most.
Hi, I have just discovered ‘Dragons Den’ on Channel ‘Dave’, Sky TV. I am very impressed with the programme, but my only grumble is that there does not seem to be any follow-up programmes.
I have just seen the snippet of the Silver Jewellery girl but no clue as to how she is really doing financially.
Could somebody let me know if any follow-up programmes were made, and if there was could you let me know how I can veiw or read about them.

does anyone have a website address for the lady that had the jewellery someone invested in her but not sure of all the details
