I didn't know about either until I read a book about the history of the web.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Xanadu is the link that talks about in wikipedia.  Basically the guy who made it wanted a copyright style of web rather than what we have now.  I was surprised to learn that the guy who did it was involved in hypertext in the 1970's!</description>
