I saw over on Rachel Elnaugh’s blog that Maks has been approached to be on the next series of Dragon’s Den but has turned them down. Rachel comments on this saying:
If you seriously need investment for your business, Dragons’ Den is probably the last place you should consider.
It’s a BBC primetime entertainment show - and YOU are the entertainment - in case you didn’t realise that already !!!
I’d agree that Dragon’s Den is not the place to get investment and that you need to recognise it for what it is, prime time entertainment. Which does mean that it has a lot of viewers. That said a lot of those viewers are potential customers. So if you prepare right (and few seem to prepare at all) it could be a great opportunity to promote your business to wider audience. A great example of this is Ling Valentine of Lings Cars who eats Dragon’s!

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

John,
Thanks. That was certainly the intention (the publicity). Don’t need £50k, that is almost overdraft-money. Rachel is correct. But I asked for just £50k to get a positive response so I could turn the dragons down. I tried to use humour and had my website ready for instant gratification for viewers (and my website plastered all over the rocket I had as my display object). This is not rocket (sorry) science
